Spring Break “Staycation”

It’s that time again! Spring break season is upon us and it’s time to enjoy somstaycation1e fun in the sun! You’ve probably have planning the most epic trip for months now…or not. The reality is, everyone does not have the luxury of enjoying their spring break on a sunny beach or anywhere else besides their bed. So, what do you do if you have no plans? Here’s some good news. You can make this spring break worthwhile without traveling. Here’s some tips on how to have the perfect “staycation!”

shaw-and-pepeCatch up on some rest. Sleeping is not always the ideal way to spend a break, but think about it. You’ve been swamped with assignments and due dates. You’ve been super busy with extracurricular activities. On top of that, you have a job that keeps you even more busy. Why not use this week to rest? Sleep in! Sleep all day! Give your body and mind a much needed break.

Stay on top of your assignments. Use this class-free week to catch up on assignments and even get ahead. You have an entire week with no plans, so use your time wisely by staying on top of those due dates. Also, study for upcoming exams. You will appreciate that A+ even more!

Invest in some “me time.” With no distractions for a week, you have more time to focus on yourself. It is important that we take time out for ourselves once in awhile. Take a walk in the park, go shopping, or even take yourself on a few dates. Enjoy being with YOURSELF for once.

Be productive. Since your schedule will be cleared for a week, use this time to plan for your future. You can search for internships, apply for scholarships, shadow professionals on their jobs, research post-grad options, etc. There is so much you could be doing to plan ahead during your break.

Spend time with family or other friends who also don’t have spring break plans. I know a spring break with your family is not always the first thing we think about, but it is better than being bored! If time with your family does not sound appealing, then find other friends who do not have plans. Even if you both have nothing to do, it is always better to 120613-414635-tdy-120612-staycation.blocks_desktop_largebe bored with someone than to be bored by yourself!

As you can see, a “staycation” is not that bad! Instead of focusing on not having anything to do, use these tips or create other things to do to pass your time. You may even enjoy your “staycation” more than you would’ve enjoyed an actual vacation; you never know until you try it!
