Summer is here but is the stress really over? Whether you are a transitioning freshman or an elite senior at the top of your class, stress of the future can affect all of us. Some of us are just wondering what college will be like while others are concerned about what the life after will hold. While this can be overwhelming, there are some methods to taming your fears. The first and maybe most important step to conquering your anxieties would be planning. No one can predict or even control what happens in life, but they can prepare and control the outcome to some degree. Not only do you need to set these goals, but you need to reach and accomplish them. Knowing what you want to accomplish, and setting steps for how to get there can be substantial not only in college, but also in life. Nothing can ever be accomplished without action. The summer can be an easy time to slack, and forget what needs to get done before school starts back up again. It can also be a great time to catch up on things that are still a work in progress. What you do with your time can either create an advantage or disadvantage for when school creeps back up on you. Procrastination is your worst enemy.
It is also possible that “us college students” can get so wound up in the stress of making sure that everything is taken care of that we forget to breathe and enjoy the free time. There is a balance that must be kept. Don’t get so engaged in the summer parties and kickbacks that it affects your school life but also don’t get so caught up in your studies that college life passes you by.
