She was the effervescent girl that everyone admired. She could dance, sing, model, act and not to mention she was absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. Her flair for style was unlike any other female R&B singer at her time. She preferred crop tops, baggy pants, fitted caps opposed to slinky dresses and skirts. Although later on she would change up her style to fit her evolution to womanhood. Her singing was unmatchable with her sultry yet sweet tones. Aaliyah was definitely a hit maker selling millions of copies of her albums around the world. Some of her chart topping hits include, Are you that Somebody, Try Again, One in a Million, and Rock the Boat. Aaliyah Haughton was truly a R&B angel sent from above.

Unfortunately her young life took an unexpected turn with her untimely death at the tender age of 22 on August 25th, 2001. Aaliyah was such an inspiration to so many people around the globe. Her music had a way of making you feel as if she were just singing to you. For years people have been wanting to see a story about the young entertainer’s life. That wish will finally be coming true as VH1 will be premiering One in a Million: The Aaliyah Story on August 25, 2014. The number one lady rumored to have the honor of playing the late Aaliyah Haughton is 106& Park host Keisha Chante. Aaliyah has always been one of my favorite R&B artists and her legacy will live forever on. This movie is a definite must see, be sure not to miss it!
