As a part of the college demographic it is simply hard to turn away from a good, social atmospheric scene. House of Hookah offers a relaxed, nostalgic atmosphere with great tasting hookah.
A smoker of hookah for a couple of years; I was invited to House of Hookah with a group of friends on a Saturday night and, well, the good, the bad and the ugly:
The good: The hookah quality is fresh tasting, strong, and long-lasting. The thick hookah hoses used on the tall and durable machines impressed me much as I’m used to smoking from much smaller machines when visiting hookah spots. The menu offers tons of tobacco flavors which makes for returning (if you choose to do so) a more unique experience as you can try different flavors upon visiting again and again. The fruit top off to your hookah is the best part of House of Hookah as it accentuates the taste of the tobacco.
The bad/ugly: The place is so damn small that it feels like you’re all pilled up in a small house with no exit waiting for a storm to pass. The play off “house” makes for an interesting but tacky and bad twist. House of Hookah offers a homey look purposefully. There’s a lot of benches, chairs, and 2 HD flat screen TVs mounted on the wall, and there you have it. The emulated look of a house basement falls flat. The music is a bit too loud and not varied enough in genre. Expect straight rap/ratchet/modern-day hip-hop non stop. The waiters are dressed in no type of uniform which correlates with the homey, chill, type spot. The worst part of House of Hookah is the parking lot is shared between a Subway and Wasabi Grill that’s all next to each other. The parking lot is big enough to hold maybe 15 cars at most. This makes for a frustrating time in trying to park, which to some would shy away guests.
Overall, the place is fairly cheap enough once split between a group, offers a relaxed atmosphere and has great tasting hookah. That’s the point right? On weekend expect 10 pm – closing to have a high volume wait time.
