A lot of readers have contacted me asking if I had tried any other virgin hair vendors. I recently purchased some new hair from another company. I have had the hair installed in a sew-in for about six weeks now. The hair was fairly affordable; I walked away with 3 bundles for $200. The hair is from All Virgin Hair Boutique which is based in Atlanta, GA. The company has two physical locations in Smyrna and Tucker as well as an online shop on their website. The major selling point for this company is that they have a store, which means I can go and see, touch, smell and inspect the hair myself. Now on to the hair!
Texture: Malaysian Straight
Length: ’18, ’16, ‘14
I purchased my hair from the Smyrna location. Customer service was average. I have no real complaints but nothing about my experience at the store stuck out to me.
I did not seal the wefts on this hair so I do experience some shedding; mostly while I’m heat styling and generally doing a lot to it. It’s nothing outrageous.
This hair has yet to tangle once in the 6 weeks I’ve worn it. Literally, I have yet to have to brush out a tangle. This is mind blowing to me because I am wearing this hair in a sew-in and the hair still doesn’t tangle.
The hair has a very natural luster to it. It isn’t shiny like synthetic hair and it isn’t dry either.
Grey Hairs or Other Strange Things:
I have yet to spot any grey hairs or synthetic fibers or pieces of string etc.
This hair blends flawlessly with my relaxed hair. It’s amazing. I’m not sure how well it would blend with natural hair being that it is straight but Malaysian textured hair greatly resembles African American relaxed hair. All I need is a good heat protectant and one swipe with the flat iron and my hair is “laid” perfectly.
They’re perfect. Moisturized, lush and even.
My favorite thing about this hair is that it is very low maintenance. I hardly do anything to it except style it and use a serum every now and then. To be honest I treat this hair very badly but it still looks good. Sometimes I sleep on it without wrapping it or anything and all I have to do is brush my hair to look presentable again.
I use the Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine line on this hair. It’s just what I happen to have in the house and it works. When heat styling I use heat protectant so the hair doesn’t dry out.
For now on if I want straight hair this is where I will get it. This hair is so versatile, low maintenance and affordable. It curls beautifully and holds styles for a long time. My thoughts on the company are positive however, only the more exotic textures are worth your money, in my opinion. When I inspected the Brazilian and Indian textures in the store I was very disappointed with the quality. The hair was rough, some of the samples had dry ends and the curl patterns weren’t defined at all. This is why I ended up with the Malaysian which turned out to be a good decision. Make sure you take all the time you need to look at the bundles if you visit the store. If you are purchasing curly textured bundles look at the sample (which should be displayed somewhere) to see what the curls will look like over time. If you are ordering online take caution because again I purchased this hair in person; pictures can be very misleading. Nonetheless, if you’re in the Atlanta area, All Virgin Hair Boutique is definitely worth a visit.
Just an update on Treasured Collections: I wore the Treasured Collections hair all throughout my fall semester up until the new year. I had a clumsy accident and the hair caught on fire. (Don’t worry it wasn’t on my head.) So I had to salvage what little hair I had left, cut off half the length and made a cute short wig. And I still wear that wig to this day. Bottom line: That hair STILL looks decent after all of that, which is a testament to its quality.
